Who we are

Build a Binder sells customisable trading card binders and accessories at buildabinder.co.uk. We decide what happens to the personal information described here, which makes us the data controller for it.

What we collect, and why

When you place an order

Your name, delivery address, email address and phone number, and the details of what you ordered. We need these to make the thing, send it to you, and talk to you if something’s wrong. The lawful basis is performance of the contract between us.

When you send us a design

The artwork you upload. We need it to make your binder. It is sent to whoever produces that decoration and is not used for anything else — we don’t reuse customer artwork in our own marketing or gallery without asking you first.

When you use the contact or design request form

Your name, email address and whatever you write in the message, so that we can reply. The lawful basis is our legitimate interest in answering people who contact us.

Card details

We never see them. Payment is handled entirely by Stripe: your card number is entered into Stripe’s own form and goes straight to them. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded, the amount, and the delivery details you gave — never the card number itself.

Who else sees it

Only the people and services needed to get your order made and delivered:

• Stripe — takes the payment and holds the transaction record.
• Hostinger — hosts the site and our email.
• The people who make your binder — foil art and UV printing are produced by separate workshops, so an order for one of those is emailed to that workshop with your artwork and the delivery details.
• Google Fonts — the typeface on this site is served by Google, which means your browser requests it from them and they see the request.

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

What’s kept in your browser

This site sets no tracking cookies and runs no analytics or advertising scripts. It does keep a few things in your browser’s own storage, which never leave your device and are never sent to us:

• Your basket, so it survives closing the tab.
• The design you’re working on, so you don’t lose it when you navigate away.

Clearing your browsing data removes both. Stripe sets its own cookies on the checkout page to spot fraud and make payment work — see the cookie page for the detail.

How long we keep it

Order records are kept for six years, because HMRC requires business records to be kept that long. Artwork is kept while we’re making your order and for a reasonable period afterwards in case you reorder or something needs putting right; ask us and we’ll delete it sooner. Emails and enquiries that don’t turn into orders are cleared out when they’re no longer useful.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, ask us to restrict what we do with it, or object to our using it. Email info@buildabinder.co.uk and we’ll answer within one month.

Deleting everything isn’t always possible — we have to keep the order records HMRC requires — but we’ll delete whatever isn’t caught by that.

If you think we’ve handled your information badly, tell us first and we’ll try to fix it. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version appears here. Anything that materially affects what we do with information you’ve already given us, we’ll tell you about by email.
